There is a moment of panic when you look into your backyard after a big storm and see your Ziptrak or Zipscreen Blind hanging crooked and broken.
Here are five steps to help you arrange a safe assessment and understand the repair options.
1. Make sure the blinds are safe
Keep people and pets clear of damaged blinds and supports. Stop using the blind. Do not climb to the top roller, hand-wind it, force jammed controls or use a belt or other improvised restraint. Damaged supports and tensioned springs may move unexpectedly and need qualified assessment.
Stop operating a damaged motorised blind. Switch off power only if the normal isolator is safely accessible without approaching damaged equipment; otherwise keep clear and seek qualified help.
2. Take photos of the damage
Once conditions are safe, take photographs of the blinds, damage and general area from a safe distance; do not stand beneath loose parts or move the blind for a picture. Depending on your insurance you may be able to claim any costs of repairs and a couple of quick pictures make any documentation and proof a lot easier.
3. Call or email us

4. How to stop this happening again
Ziptrak Blinds and Zipscreen Blinds are designed primarily for sun and heat protection, not storm and high wind. In most cases, they cope well in the fully up or down position through most Adelaide weather conditions although we always recommend people secure the blinds in the up position if it is forecast to be gale or storm force winds.
Have a qualified installer assess the supports and fixing points. Do not add or alter fixings on a damaged system yourself.
Sensor compatibility depends on the motor, controls and locking system. More on motorised blinds in Adelaide. Sensors do not guarantee storm protection or replace the manufacturer’s operating limits.
