Outdoor blinds can provide shade and limited weather shelter, depending on the system and fabric. They are not storm enclosures. Follow the manufacturer’s wind and weather limits and retract before severe weather when safe to do so.

Yes, we have a wide variety of indoor blinds, including roller blinds, venetian blinds, and honeycomb blinds, to suit your home or office needs.
Both are Stan Bond outdoor blind systems that run in side tracks. Ziptrak is spring-driven. Zipscreen is one scalable range where spring, crank or motor operation is chosen by size and exposure, and the largest openings need heavier hardware. We recommend by site at the measure. Not sure which you have? Send a photo.
Mesh keeps the view and cuts glare by day but is not private at night. If you need night privacy, ask about blockout or another option at the measure. A more open mesh keeps more view; a tighter one cuts more glare but feels more enclosed.
No outdoor blind is windproof or a substitute for a roof. Ziptrak and Zipscreen are designed to resist wind when down and secured, but they must be raised or fully secured in strong wind and storms. Do not roll clear PVC away wet, or leave it rolled in summer sun.
Both guide the fabric in side channels to reduce side gaps. They differ in head box and pelmet shape, the channel and retention system (spline in a track versus zip in a z-LOCK channel) and the bottom-bar locks. The better fit depends on your size, exposure, look and operation, so we compare both at your measure.
A fixed infill is a non-operating fabric panel for narrow or oddly shaped spaces, such as gable ends, made to match your other blinds. It can use rope track, Ziptrak or Zipscreen-style channels, or a frame. It needs at least one edge face-fitted so it can be pulled flat, and size limits apply.
Wire guides suit places where side channels are not wanted and let a blind stop at any height without tie-downs. They move more than channels, and customers commonly find them noisier, because they rattle and bounce unless held down. Near glass, side channels are often the cleaner choice.
Mesh rolls are 3.2 m wide, so drops over 3.2 m need a horizontal join, which we place at the top to keep it out of your main view. Joins can show as slight waves in 5% mesh. We tell you at quote if a join will be visible.
We service blinds supplied by Stan Bond or our SABS wholesale partners, because other makers use different components. If you are thinking about replacing yours, we can send a consultant for a free measure and quote on a new Stan Bond product.
Sometimes, but approval comes first. Apartment owners often need corporation permission to change a building's outside appearance, and building-code fire rules can limit which materials suit taller buildings. We check both before quoting, so tell us the building type and storeys.
Everyday use is fine, but outdoor blinds are shade and privacy products, not storm shelters. Raise them in strong wind or storms, and when you are away in extreme weather. Do not roll them up wet, and keep tracks clean and lightly lubricated so they run smoothly.
Fabric sets privacy, view and airflow. Mesh openness (5% or 1%), clear PVC, canvas or acrylic each trade view, privacy, maintenance and mould risk differently. For example, solution-dyed acrylic resists mould in humid or coastal spots, while canvas needs to be rolled up clean and dry.
Yes, with the right hardware and care. High-corrosion sites need stainless steel fixings (SS316 near the surf or ocean front), not zinc-plated screws. Rinse the blind and frame with fresh water at least every three months, and more often in extreme zones.
Posts can fill openings too wide for one blind. Posts come in aluminium or steel in several sizes with ceiling, face, corner or hidden mounts, and a strong fixing at the top is critical. Posts on balconies need building-management approval before drilling through waterproofing.
Keep ventilation in mind: raise the blind whenever a gas appliance is running, keep about a quarter of the area's wall space open, and consider a carbon monoxide detector. The standards do not address blinds, so only a licensed gas fitter can give definitive advice for your area.
Blinds are made to size, so we check face versus reveal fixing, out-of-square openings, obstructions such as downpipes or tile edges, slab fall, and what the structure is made of. Small errors cause jams, gaps and light leaks, which is why we measure before making.
