How does it work?
Where there is limited space to install a winch box on the wall, there is the option of a hand-pull cord operation, which takes up less space. The slats roll up at the top and are contained within an aluminium roll-formed headbox. Headbox sizes available include 165, 180 and 205 mm.

What is a roller shutter?
A roller shutter is a set of interlocking aluminium slats that roll up into a headbox above the opening and run in side guides. It is operated by cord winch, hand braid or motor. Stan Bond measures, supplies and installs shutters made by Ozroll.
Winder or motor?
As a guide, a cord winch is recommended above about 3 m2 and a motor above about 5 m2. Mains-powered motors are generally the most reliable and cost-effective over a shutter's life, while battery or solar motors need battery replacement and can age faster in roof heat. Wiring needs an electrician.
Q: Can I automate my roller shutters?
Absolutely. We are Somfy Experts. Mains-powered and solar-powered motors are available. You can control them via wall switches, remote controls, or even your smartphone via the Somfy TaHoma app.
Q: What colours are available?

What finishes and colours can I choose?

What size shutters can you make?
Shutters come in a defined size range, and there is an upper limit, so a very wide opening such as 6.5 m cannot be made as one shutter. The headbox size is chosen from the shutter's height. We confirm what is possible for your opening, fixing and slat series at measure.
Are roller shutters suitable for bushfire areas?
Bushfire suitability is specific to the exact shutter, how it is installed and what your building certifier requires, so we do not make blanket claims. Tell us your address and your building requirements, and we will check the supplier's product documentation before recommending anything for your site.
Can you repair or motorise my existing shutter?
Possibly, if we supplied it. To book properly we ask who installed it, roughly when, whether it is winder, strap, remote or switch, and for photos of the shutter, motor label and remote. Older or unknown-brand shutters may need a referral instead. See repairs for how to book.
Is a roller shutter the same as a roller door?
No. A roller shutter covers a window or opening on your home. A roller door is a garage-style door, which is a different product. If you are after a garage door, we are not the right supplier, but we can help with windows, patios and openings.
