As Roller Shutter experts, with 30 years experience in manufacturing and over 10,000 Roller Shutters installed around South Australia, we select the best components from Europe to provide a strong, long lasting hassle free use. At 15% heavier, 3mm larger and with a paint coating 300% thicker than the other major brands, Roller Shutters give you greater sound and thermal insulation, along with better security.

A Roller Shutter consists of a series of interlocking horizontal slats that sit comfortably between a side channel on each side of the shutter. The ‘curtain’ is raised and lowered by either a manual winch operation, which is located on the internal wall next to the window, or by a switch or remote control. Where there is limited space to install a winch box on the wall there is the option of a hand pull cord operation which takes up less space. The slats roll up at the top and are contained within an aluminium roll-formed headbox. This headbox comes in 3 standard sizes of 165mm, 180mm and 205mm, which is determined by the height of the Roller Shutter.

Expect roller shutters to cost anywhere from $400 – $1400, depending on their size with the most common sizes generally costing around $900.
Roller Shutters help to reduce noise by up to 80% depending on the frequency. However, traffic noise, which is a low-frequency, often is not blocked as much as customers expect.
Roller Shutters add ‘at-home’ security and a deterrent when you are away. At home security means a person could not enter your home without making so much noise that it would alert you. However, given time and tools, a determined person could break a shutter, though this is very rare.

A Roller Shutter is a great sound barrier however it is difficult to quantify. Roller Shutters do decrease the amount of high pitched noise transition through the window. Low pitched sound such as traffic noise will only be minimally affected by the installation of Roller Shutters.
