Perfect for entertaining
Live Comfortably.
A highly flexible lifestyle awning that provides shade for outdoor spaces, without requiring any fixed structures.
Travel through Europe or the United States and you’ll find Folding Arm Awnings on many shops, bars and homes. Now you too can shade your windows, patios and outdoor living areas with Aluxor’s simple and neat German-designed Folding Arm Awnings.
A better outdoor awning for entertaining
Australians love relaxing outside, so no posts, struts or poles means more outdoor entertaining space. The awning retracts against the building or structure.
Folding arm awnings are one style in our outdoor blinds range, and they are listed with the other styles on the awnings page. For a drop over a verandah or patio opening, see straight drop awnings. For a window, see auto guide awnings. Sundream is a retractable roof awning for a fixed structure. For the open sides of a pergola or alfresco, see Ziptrak blinds.

Features and benefits
Operation is a crank or a motor, depending on the model. The notes below cover the models, fabrics and pitch.
Easy to operate
Weather sensors
Flexible sun and light
Options
Stratos I – Open Awning
- Open awning, no headbox
Stratos III – Semi Cassette
- Semi-enclosed extruded pelmet, metal fascia, compact look
Discus – Full Cassette
- Fully-enclosed headbox protects the fabric in the closed position
Folding Arm awnings are commonly used on commercial spaces such as bars, cafes and shopping malls, or in domestic situations where an extended living space needs sun protection.
Operation
Operation depends on the model: some folding-arm awnings offer a manual crank, while others require a motor. Ask us to confirm the controls available for your chosen awning. Compatible sensors can assist retraction but cannot guarantee protection from sudden wind changes. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions and retract the awning before strong winds or severe weather.
Fabric
With a wide choice of outdoor fabrics, you can choose from a broad range of colours, patterns and textures. Folding Arm awnings most often use acrylic fabrics such as Docril and Dickson, which allow a filtered light through the fabric while providing shade, with UV performance depending on the selected fabric.
Components
Stan Bond buys its folding arm awnings direct from Aluxor.
- Stratos I, Stratos III and Discus: high quality, tensioned spring-loaded, PVC-coated triple steel cables provide added protection against corrosion
- Individually hung cables provide fabric tension
- Brackets and operating components, made from extruded aluminium with a pre-treated, powder-coated finish
- 316 stainless construction hardware
- ‘Selectapitch’ functionality lets you change the angle of the awning to block the morning or afternoon sun (Stratos I and III only, size limits apply). That is useful on west-facing patios and decks in afternoon heat.
Pitch Control
The adjustable pitch gives you improved shade control. Simply adjust the angle of your awning depending on the position of the sun and weather conditions with the Stratos I and III Folding Arm Awnings. You can set the arm bracket of your Discus to any angle up to 35 degrees.
Motorised Option
Motorised operation is available by remote or wall switch, and Somfy motors can be specified on selected models. Wind, sun, rain and motion sensors are available on selected models with compatible motors. We'll confirm the right options at the measure and quote.
