Our Favourite Rooms for Modern Curtains

Curtains provide a beautiful finish of elegance and romance, so we love the look of modern curtains in dining rooms, living rooms and master bedrooms.

Sheer S-fold (wave) track curtains are a popular product for modern South Australian homes. These products help to soften a room, providing calming lines in a range of soft fabrics.

All of our curtains are made to measure for the window or fixture in your home or workplace.

What's new in curtains

Minimalist sheer curtains in a bright living room

Minimalist Curtains

These curtains have a simple and clean design with no frills or embellishments. They are usually made from lightweight and airy fabrics in neutral colours and create a bright and open look in any room.

Sheer Curtains

These curtains are made from translucent fabrics such as voile. They let natural light through while giving some daytime privacy, but they are not blockout.

S-Fold Curtains

The S-fold (wave) heading uses wave tape and runners to form an even S-shaped fold. It suits soft fabrics that drape well, including many sheers. Stiff, coated or triple-weave fabrics can flatten, so we check your chosen fabric first. The track stays visible.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is on trend right now with modern curtains?

Sheer Curtains are very on trend at the moment. Beautiful natural sheers and the use of modern linen fabrics can be used on an S-fold (wave) track to create a modern minimalist window covering that adds warmth to the room. Pair the sheer with a separate blockout curtain behind it, nearest the glass, on its own track, for a simple and versatile solution. It is also common to use a Curtain over a roller blind, Ziptrak Interior or Plantation Shutter.

What fabrics do you offer?

Our curtains are made to measure in our own curtain workroom at our Salisbury South factory. We have supply relationships with fabric makers including Warwick, Zepel, James Dunlop, Nettex, Basford and Wilson. If you have seen a fabric you like, bring the name or a sample and we will check whether we can get it for you.

What curtains are best for shift workers?

Shift workers often want the darkest room possible, using blockout fabrics. Stan Bond can achieve a very dark room by combining heavy linings or products such as Ziptrak Interior or exterior Roller Shutters. These products can improve room darkening for shift workers. The result depends on the fabric and coverage at the top, sides and centre; assess remaining light gaps during the consultation.

What styles do you specialise in?

We have trained Interior Decorators on staff who can help with many styles, whether you like Hamptons, minimalist, traditional, industrial or Scandinavian decor.

Are all curtains custom made?

Yes. We specialise in made-to-measure curtains and do not sell ready-made curtains. Every curtain and blind is made to suit the measurements and design of your window and home.

Can blinds and curtains be used on the same window?

It is common to have a curtain over the top of a blind in a window. Sheer curtains look great over Roller Blinds, Timber Venetian Blinds and other Indoor Blinds. Roman Blinds can also be made using many of the same fabrics as curtains providing a consistent look across your home.

Are ready made curtains just as good?

Compare the actual fabric, finish, dimensions and service included. Ready-made and custom curtains vary in quality; made-to-measure curtains offer a fit and selection tailored to the opening.

Why invest in curtains?

The great thing about curtains is that you're not just investing in something beautiful for your home. Curtains can also help with insulation, and curtains and blinds in Adelaide provide benefit in both summer and winter.

Continuous vs non-continuous fabrics - what does that mean?

Continuous fabrics are normally wide width (2.8–3.2 m) and manufactured in a manner that allows for no joins in most windows. Most commonly these are sheer fabrics. Non-continuous fabrics are more traditional narrow widths (1.2–1.5 m). They are commonly non-blockout fabrics which need to be lined. A Stan Bond consultant will help you to find the right fabric and width for your home.

What lengths do sheer curtains come in?

Sheer curtain fabrics are most often 2.8–3.2 m wide. Depending on the fabric's width, that allows a curtain drop of up to about 3.1 m without a join. A curtain needs about 0.1 m for squaring and bottom hems. If you need a longer drop, a false hem or a top join can be used.
