Their versatile design makes them suitable for both residential homes and commercial spaces like shop fronts and patios.

Control light, heat, and privacy with the latest technology in blind systems and fabrics, designed for the harsh Australian sun. Outdoor awnings help intercept sunlight before it reaches your home, helping to lower energy costs and keep your house cooler during summer.

This not only reduces your reliance on air conditioning but also creates a more sustainable and eco-friendly living environment. With the addition of advanced wind sensors, your awnings remain safe and functional even in unpredictable weather.

Pairing these awnings with interior blinds and shutters ensures year-round comfort and protection from sun damage and high winds. Do you charge a fee for a consultant to attend?

Stan Bond offer a no obligation free measure and quotation.

What types of outdoor awnings are available?

Stan Bond offers a wide range of outdoor awnings, including straight drop awnings, folding arm awnings, automatic window awnings, and fixed guide awnings. These are designed to suit various applications such as patios, balconies, and shop fronts.

Which folding-arm awning suits my house?

Folding-arm awnings come as open, semi-cassette or fully cassetted styles, and the right one depends on your fixing height, how far you need it to project and the look you want. Fabric changes the light and the feel: light-filtering acrylic keeps UV out and the space airy, very dark cloth can feel heavy. A consultant checks the fit on site.

Open, semi-cassette or full cassette awning?

An open awning has an exposed roller and arms and is usually the lowest cost. Semi-cassette covers the roller, and a full cassette encloses the whole awning when closed for the neatest look. Cassettes add height and depth, so what fits depends on your wall, beam and recess.

What is an Auto Guide awning?

An Auto Guide awning is spring-operated, running on steel guide rods fixed down both sides of a window with sliding lock arms. It shades the window while letting air through. A stainless steel kit is available for coastal sites, and S2000 arms suit weatherboard homes.

Is a pivot arm awning suitable in windy spots?

Pivot arm awnings are lightweight and not designed for high wind loads or large windows. In wind they can bounce and make noise, which matters on bedroom windows. They suit small windows and sun control at height, with a limited projection.

Can my wall take an awning?

Awnings put heavy leverage on their brackets, so we check what your wall or rafter is made of at measure. Some materials, such as Hebel, hold fixings poorly and need specialist fixings. We do not fix a heavy awning to brick veneer alone without checking the structure.

What fabric should I choose for an awning?

Stan Bond offer a wide range of outdoor fabrics for our custom made awnings and blinds, including fabrics from Ricky Richards, DeFab, Brella and Somerton. Canvas fabrics are popular for outdoor awnings, however solution dyed acrylic, mesh and PVC options are also available depending on the application type. Acrylic-style light-filtering fabrics give sun protection with a lighter, airier feel, while very dark cloth can make a space feel enclosed. Solution-dyed acrylic such as Docril resists mould. We can photograph your selected fabrics on-site so you can compare them before deciding.

Are motorised awnings available?

Yes, Stan Bond offers motorised awnings that provide added functionality and convenience and allow for seamless operation at the push of a button. Manual and motorised options vary by awning model. Compatible wind sensors can be added and can assist with retraction, but do not guarantee protection from sudden gusts or storms.

Will an awning keep rain off or survive wind?

Folding arm awnings are mainly shade products, not all-weather systems. A wind sensor can retract an awning when wind reaches a set level, which reduces risk, but it does not make an awning safe in every wind. A sudden gust can arrive faster than the awning retracts, so bring it in if strong wind is forecast. Retract it manually if storms are forecast, and ask us about sensors and manual override when you choose a motor.

How do outdoor awnings help reduce energy costs?

Stan Bond outdoor awnings help intercept sunlight before it reaches your home, helping to keep your house cooler during summer. By reducing reliance on air conditioning, they contribute to lowering energy costs and creating a more sustainable living environment.

Are the awnings suitable for Australian weather conditions?

Yes, Stan Bond awnings are specifically designed to withstand Australia's harsh weather conditions. Weather limits vary by awning, fabric, size and fixing. Follow the manufacturer’s operating instructions; folding-arm awnings must be retracted before strong winds or severe weather.

Can outdoor awnings protect my furniture and flooring?

Outdoor awnings help reduce exposure to UV rays, protecting your furniture and flooring from sun damage. This makes them a practical solution for extending the lifespan of your interior and outdoor furnishings.

Do outdoor awnings add value to my property?

Yes, outdoor awnings enhance the aesthetic appeal of your property. By providing shade, protection, and energy efficiency, they are a practical and stylish addition to any home or commercial space.

Why does my awning retract on its own?

That is usually the wind sensor doing its job. It responds to moderate to strong gusts, not light breezes. If it seems too sensitive, check the sensor battery first, and we can adjust its position or settings on a service visit.
