Traditional and popular awning
Live Comfortably.
Cover and protect your windows and patios from the sun with our retractable shade awnings.
A popular traditional style external awning, the Auto Guide Awning, sometimes known as the Automatic Awning or Lock Arm Awning, is a familiar sight on Adelaide homes.
The awning is raised and lowered to whatever position you want, by simply sliding the arms on the guide rods. This flexibility lets you control how much light and heat comes through the window.
Auto Guide Awnings let the air in whilst blocking out light
Available in a number of projections, Auto Guide Awnings sit close to the window to shade it while letting air through. The auto locking arms allow the awning to be secured at any height and can be adjusted by hand or with a pull-stick. Tension in the blind is maintained by a spring that sits neatly within the top aluminium roller tube.
Stan Bond Auto Guide Awnings are most often installed on the face of ground floor windows but can also be used on balcony windows or outdoor patio posts where there's a suitable fixing point. The Awnings also come with the option of matching hooding to provide the finishing touch to your new window feature.
Auto guide awnings are one style in our outdoor blinds range. Where the shade needs to project further from the wall, see folding arm awnings. For an arm that angles out from the window, see pivot arm awnings. For a drop over a verandah or patio opening, see straight drop awnings.
What's new in Auto Guide awnings
How it works
Auto Guide awnings lock at the height you set. Slide the arms on the guide rods and secure them by hand or with a pull-stick. A spring in the top aluminium tube keeps tension in the cloth.
What's popular
Outlook Mode mesh in a single block colour is a current Auto Guide look, and traditional poly-cotton canvas from Somerton is still offered, along with PVC-coated polyester mesh. Hoods, arm projections and an optional stainless kit are listed in the options below.
What's modern
Auto Lock Arm awnings can use Outlook Mode mesh fabric in a single block colour. The mesh lets some natural light through.

High quality parts
Our auto guide awnings use an aluminium top tube and five-sided bottom rail instead of galvanised steel. This lowers the risk of rust and gives a smoother paint finish. Established in 1970, Stan Bond has been serving South Australia for more than 50 years.
Fabric choices
With a wide choice of outdoor fabrics, you can choose from our broad range of colours, patterns and textures – including traditional poly-cotton canvas from Somerton and PVC-coated polyester mesh.
