Curtains for the way you live

Live Comfortably.

Modern and Traditional Curtains add character and practicality to any space, and we have a broad range of colours and textures to suit any room. Control light, heat and privacy with the warmth and darkness that only curtains can provide.

Blinds, curtains and shutters for Adelaide homes

No matter what your taste – contemporary, classic, luxury or modest – your choice from our extensive Australian and International fabric range will take your home to the next level. Curtains are the ultimate ‘all in one’ product, offering privacy, darkness, filtered light and reducing thermal transference.

For a modern touch, the S Fold curtain heading style, also known as a wavefold curtain is a popular choice. Installed from the ceiling to the floor, with the sheer curtain front and centre and with a blockout curtain behind, your windows will be the feature of your room. The softness of the sheer adds a touch of luxurious comfort to your window, allowing light and privacy simultaneously.

For a more traditional look, formal pelmets, tie backs, swags, tails and valances are available. To complete your room, soft furnishings such as bedspreads and cushions can be custom made to match.

For the ultimate touch of luxury, consider motorising your window treatments. Hardwired and battery powered motorisation options are available, including remote operation or full home automation c-bus systems. There’s an option for every budget.

With a wide range of curtains and indoor blinds, our team can help provide a stylish and value for money solution. Consider layering your sheer curtain with a roller blind for a budget friendly solution while maintaining softness and style.

Our team of consultants and design experts can help you at our display centre or in-home to find the perfect solution for you. Choose a simple S-fold heading or a more traditional pleat, then look at fabrics and finishes in our showroom or during a free in-home measure. One window is welcome.

Custom Curtains for Every Adelaide Home

Stan Bond was established in 1970. Curtain work began in 2016, when the Sawade team joined. Whether you prefer the airy elegance of sheer voile, the deep light control of blockout fabric, the tailored look of S-fold or wave pleat, or the timeless character of pinch pleat drapes, our consultants will guide you to the right solution for your windows, your style and your budget.

Every curtain is custom-measured. We offer a free in-home measure and quote, where our specialists assess your windows, ceiling height, track options and fabric preferences before recommending the best configuration for each room.

Popular Curtain Styles in Adelaide

  • Sheer Curtains — Light-filtering voile and linen sheers that diffuse sunlight while maintaining privacy during the day. Ideal for living rooms and bedrooms.
  • Blockout Curtains — Room darkening for bedrooms, with coverage and edge gaps assessed, nurseries and media rooms. Available in a wide range of colours and textures.
  • Modern Curtains — S-fold, wave pleat and ripple fold styles for a contemporary look. Works well with ceiling-mounted tracks for a seamless finish.
  • Traditional Curtains — Pinch pleat and classic gathered styles for formal living areas, heritage homes and period interiors.
  • Sheer and Blockout Layering — Double track systems allow sheers and blockout curtains to be layered for flexible light control and privacy throughout the day.

Curtain Tracks and Hardware

We supply and install a full range of curtain tracks and hardware, including ceiling-mounted tracks, motorised track systems (compatible with Somfy smart home), bay window tracks and eyelet rod systems. Our team handles all installation so your curtains hang perfectly from day one.

Fabric options include linen, polyester, velvet, jacquard and performance fabrics with UV protection ratings. Explore fabric samples at our Campbelltown showroom; confirm availability for any particular range before visiting or during your free in-home consultation.

Frequently asked questions

Curtains: sheer or blockout for privacy?

Sheer curtains are translucent. They let daylight in and give daytime privacy, but they are not blockout. For privacy at night or a darker room, add a lined or blockout curtain on its own track behind the sheer, nearest the glass. Tell us which rooms need it and we will recommend a combination.

What is an S-fold (wave) curtain and when should I avoid it?

S-fold, also called Wave, uses wave tape and runners to form an even S-shaped fold. It suits soft fabrics that drape well. The track stays visible, and Wave can let a little more light past than other headings. Stiff, coated or triple-weave fabrics can flatten, and long drops with horizontal joins can look untidy, so we check your chosen fabric first.

Can curtains be motorised?

Yes. We can motorise curtain tracks with Somfy Glydea or Movelite motors, in 240 V (wired) or rechargeable battery versions depending on the track. Control can be by remote, wall switch, timer or a smart-home hub. These motors are made to be operated by hand as well, so you can still draw the curtains manually. We'll confirm the right motor and controls for your windows at the measure and quote.

What happens at a curtain measure?

A consultant measures the window, ceiling and track position, then talks through fabric, heading, lining and track options and gives you a quote. You can start in our Campbelltown showroom or at home. Accurate measuring matters most for bays, bends, bulkheads and motorised tracks, because small errors add up on the finished length.

How much wall space do curtains need when open?

Open curtains need room to stack beside the window. For Wave curtains, a rough guide is about a fifth of the track width, but that is only an estimate. Thicker or heavier fabric stacks deeper, and other headings stack differently. We check the space you have and confirm the stack at your measure, especially near doors, bulkheads, bays and double curtains.

What does curtain fullness mean, and how much do I need?

Fullness is how much fabric goes into the curtain compared with the width of the track. It depends on the heading. Wave curtains are usually made at about twice the track width, within a range of 1.8 to 2.5, while pleated and gathered headings have their own fullness. Lower fullness can reduce privacy with a sheer. We recommend the fullness for your heading and fabric.

Do curtains need returns or a pelmet?

Not always, but they help. A return brings the side of the curtain back to the wall, which can hide the track and help reduce light at the sides, so we recommend returns on blockout curtains. A pelmet is a padded, fabric-covered headbox over the track that gives a traditional finish and helps reduce light from above. Some light can still get past the edges.

Will my curtains fade, and can I protect them?

Some fading is normal, especially on dark fabrics and natural fibres such as linen. A lining protects the face fabric from sun. Ask us which fabric suits a sun-facing window.

Why do new curtains need to be dressed?

New curtains need time to settle into even folds. Heavier or stiffer fabrics can take longer to settle. Your installer will tell you whether to leave any ties on for a while and when to remove them.

Can my curtains puddle on the floor?

Yes, if you like that look. Tell us at the measure how you want the hem to finish, from just clear of the floor to a deliberate puddle, because we set the finished drop from that.

Can I keep my roller blinds and add curtains to reduce light at the sides?

That can be an option. Tell us where light is getting in and whether you want to keep the existing blinds. A consultant can check the space for a curtain track, how far the curtain should extend past the window and whether a lining or blockout layer is suitable. The finished result depends on the fabric, coverage and fitting; some light can still pass around the edges.

Can the consultant bring a particular curtain fabric sample?

Ask when you book. If you have seen a fabric in the showroom, on our website or on social media, send its name and colour, or a photo of the example. Consultants carry a selection rather than every fabric, so we can check the sample you want. You can also call ahead to check showroom samples before visiting.
