Soft textures and vintage details
Shabby chic rooms often combine relaxed textures, gentle colours and vintage-inspired details. Curtains can support that look with a softly draping face fabric, a subtle floral or stripe, or a plain fabric that lets furniture and accessories stand out.
Choose the face fabric and lining separately
The face fabric provides the visible colour, pattern and texture. A lining sits behind it to support privacy, light control and the way the curtain hangs. Do not choose a lining range on the assumption that it is a patterned decorative face fabric. Ask to see current samples for each layer.
Heading, fullness and care
Compare a gathered or pleated heading with a simpler fold, and ask the consultant to check how much fabric and stack-back space your window needs. For a bedroom, discuss a blockout lining and the remaining light gaps around the finished curtain.
View samples beside the room’s paint and furniture in daylight and evening light. Check the cleaning instructions for both face fabric and lining before ordering; different materials may need different care.
